LIFE's Founding Partners

 

LIFE Farm is owned by two families working together with a crew of other farmers.  As founders they developed and improved the basic vision of providing a variety of healthful sustainably produced foods.  As visionaries they have fullfilled the mission of LIFE Farm through expanded programs including a CSA, seed saving, community outreach and currently the development of a member-owned farm.

Jeff Evard

Jeff and Melissa Evard, their daughter Sylvan and new son Herny, live right next to the farm in Morgan County .  This farm is comprised of approximately 14 acres of cultivated land which includes six greenhouses, two hoop houses, and several farm fields, some rented - some owned.  Jeff is the Chief Agronomist for LIFE.  He studied soil science at Purdue, earning degrees in horticulture and agronomy, and is a very experienced organic grower.  Melissa studied engineering at Purdue and besides working with the farm, holds a full-time job in Indianapolis. 

Art Sherwood

Art Sherwood and Gwen Fluhr, along with Rett and Zosia live in Bloomington.  Art, the Farm Business Manager for LIFE, studied small business at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and at IU.  He also teaches small business strategy and conducts research in sustainable organizations/agriculture at Indiana State University.  Gwen has a degree from IU and is a Certified Organic Gardening Educator.  Gwen,the artist of LIFE farm, creates hand drawn labels and logos and documents the farm's growth through a large photo collection.
